After five weeks of intense competition between slobs from all across North America, MyFax, one of the leading Internet fax services, has awarded Susan Johnson of California the $10,000 Grand Prize in the MyFax Messy Office Contest. The cleanliness-challenged Johnson, who works out of a home office that would actually have to be cleaned for a day to be described as merely "messy," was chosen from 10 finalists in an online poll open to the general public."The day I sent in my submission, my daughter showed the contest site to her Dad. After looking at the entries online, he told her, ‘Oh, your Mom will never win--look at that one! What a mess!' Of course, he was looking at the photo of my office," recalled Johnson. "With my winnings, a shredder, wastebasket, and a MyFax account are on the top of my list of things to purchase. Although, at this point, it might make more sense to rent a bulldozer and dumpster and start from scratch."
In January, MyFax requested that packrats, slobs and junk collectors alike send in a photo or video submission of their unsightly workspaces. Throughout February, MyFax mess experts or "messperts" selected two finalists each week. Over the past week, the public viewed the horrific entries and decided Johnson deserved the $10,000.
Susan Johnson of California wins the $10,000 MyFax Messy Office Contest"It's a little nerve-wracking handing over a check to someone known for having endless piles of paper lying around," said Joseph Nour, CEO of Protus IP Solutions, which owns and operates MyFax. "There's a good chance that if it goes into that office it will be as tough to find as the Holy Grail. But she's definitely earned it, as did our other weekly winners. We're very pleased with the response this competition has drawn, and hope it inspires others to embrace their inner slob. And should they decide to get organized," he adds, "that they remember MyFax can help them do it."
